Researchers of the CRC1624 participated in the outreach event "Science on tap".
Last Thursday, Franziska Ahrens (Master student in mathematics) and Tobias Dyckerhoff (CRC1624 PI) gave a joint lecture titled Sightseeing in hyperspace at the local St. Pauli bar Cafe Miller. The goal of the lecture was to give playful insights into polytopes in dimensions greater than 3. Such geometric objects play a fundamental role in describing higher algebraic structures of central relevance to the research pursued within the CRC. Explaining the relevance of research in mathematics and physics is a key component of the outreach program of the CRC.
Similar talks are offered as part of the outreach format Wir wollen's wissen where researchers visit high schools to give lectures to interested students.
