From 12 to 14 August 2026, the workshop Queer and Trans People in Category Theory (QTCat) was held at the University of Hamburg. The event aimed to showcase research by queer and trans people working with category theory across mathematics, physics, philosophy, computer science and logic. It brought together around 40 early-career researchers from within and outside academia to discuss shared interests.
The three-day programme featured 13 talks, with ample time for discussion between sessions. Mini-workshops on topics including queer perspectives and self-hosting a server, alongside various artistic activities, complemented the talks.
The workshop was supported by CRC 1624 – Higher Structures, Moduli Spaces and Integrability. It was organised by CRC early-career researchers Tessa Kammermeier and Isabela Recio, together with Terru Stübinger from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
